NEWSFLASH: California is in a drought.
OK. Not so much a newsflash - but definitely something that is #FISHMANFIT news worthy.
Wait, but why, Paul? Well, besides the fact that resource conservation is one of the largest factors in my choice to live the plant based diet life #almostvegan (hashtag I’m ovotarian, yes that’s a thing, I googled it). Fact time: Did you know that there is an average SIXTEEN to ONE ratio between the amount of resources (gas, electricity, water) that it takes to produce ONE POUND of animal protein vs ONE POUND of plant based protein? Sixteen to one. That’s a whole lot of water and a whole lot of other stuff that we consider valuable.
SO. Let’s bring this full circle how does this affect YOU? Well, I’m currently focusing in on my water consumption and you should too. Yes, you guessed it, another WHY moment. Well, for one thing water is basically everything. In fact, the average human body is roughly 65% water so if you aren’t drinking it you might not be able to function as well as if you were.
I know what you’re thinking and I know it’s hard but what if you had a really fun drinking vessel to transport your water consumption to another level? Enter KOR WATER my current and only obsession in the surprisingly large water bottle (cough, vessel) industry.
I live and breath the NAVA water bottle. It is perfect for spin because it has a cool straw to drink from, and, drum roll please, it comes with its own filtration system. I know, I know, I could hardly contain myself either. KOR is all about sustainability so they created their awesome water filter from 100% coconut shell. Yes, you can add that to your list of coconut products you use/consume - have you tried COCONUT NECTAR YET? (Yes, I’m screaming...it’s basically like maple syrup and has one of the lowest glycemic indexes ever. Period.) Ok, ok, back to KOR - If you haven’t noticed me in class using my NAVA I’m sure you will now - and did I mention that one of these sleek and sexy bottles has found its way into the #FISHMANFIT of JULY Grand Prize Gym Bag (you still have time to win. BOOK YOUR BIKES)?
Ok here’s the deal. Americans as a people do not consume nearly enough water and changing this lands on my #FISHMANFIT list of things we must must do. Let’s recap what we learned today:
1.) Water is precious.
2.) So are you.
3.) Buy a KOR Nava. The green one I have is ON SALE people. #twinsies
4.) Fill it up with water, imagine if our bodies were 65% Diet Coke?
5.) Drink that water.
6.) Repeat at least 5 times over the day to get the Mayo Clinic's recommended daily intake of water for someone who is living in a moderate climate*.
*recommendation for an adult male living in a moderate climate with a normal activity level. Since we get #FISHMANFIT together and stay active I’d like to keep this rule across the board.
